What are the Bridge House Brats?
The Bridge House Brats is a group chartered under the authority of the Phoenix Community and Youth Council which is a group bringing together the schools, churches, town government, village government, parents, and students of the Phoenix Area.
Who are the Bridge House Brats?
The Bridge House Brats is an all-volunteer group providing services at and around the Bridge House Museum at Henley Park.
What are your hours of operation?
The Bridge House Brats operate primarily during the summer season, from June until the end of August. Normal hours of operation are Monday through Friday 7:30am to 2:00pm, and Fridays from 5:00pm to 7:30pm. For special events at the park, hours may be extended. These will be noted on a calendar of scheduled events.
Who are the supervisory staff?
The Director of Operations is Kathy Lathrop who can be reached at opsdirector@bridgehousebrats.org. Other parents and community volunteers assist on an as needed basis.
How can my child become a member?
Children need to be between the ages of 8 and 18 years old. All potential members of the Bridge House Brats are required to fill out an application, which must be signed by their parent or legal guardian. After filling out an application, there is an interview process with the applicant and their parent/guardian.
What are the responsibilities of Brats?
In addition to serving boaters and local citizens at the docks, the Brats host senior citizens from area nursing homes for lunches at the park.
The duties of the Bridge House Brats include:
- Meal service for boaters and other visitors
- Museum tours and cleanup
- Assisting boaters tie up and cast off
- Sewage pump-outs for boaters
- Local business information
- Cleaning up park, pavilion, and Phoenix business district
- Painting park equipment, Bridge House, and store fronts (upon request)
- Emptying garbages
Do you keep track of expenses and donations?
Yes. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. All donations, expenses, and financial activity is recorded and available upon request. Please contact our Treasurer for addition information or receipts for your donations, as they may be deductible from your annual taxes.

Do you have a marine band radio?
The Bridge House has a marine band radio, which is monitored during operating hours. Boaters may call ahead to check docking space, receive information about Phoenix, or to place food orders. Channel 13, the channel commonly used for open conversation among boaters, is monitored. Boaters wishing to speak to the Bridge House are asked to switch over to channel 74. The call sign on the marine band radio is “Bridge House Brats.”
